Arriving by public transport

Pedal Peak District seeks to reduce the number of people arriving in, or travelling around, the national park by car.  You can plan your journey using public transport from any location in the UK by visiting www.transportdirect.info

Bus journeys to cycle hire centres

Ashbourne

Ashbourne cycle hire centre is served (using the bus stop in Mapleton Road, opposite the church) by the Bowers 442 Ashbourne – Hartington – Buxton bus.

It is accessible from Buxton or Ashbourne.

Derwent

Derwent cycle hire centre is accessible by four services – 89A, 222, 242 and 373.

89A Chesterfield – Hathersage – Derwent – operates two services a day on:

  • Sundays
  • Bank Holiday Mondays
  • Saturdays from April to October.

222 – Bamford – Derwent – Upper Derwent
This service also links up with trains as it serves Bamford Rail Station. It operates on:

  • All Sundays
  • Saturdays from April to October

Parsley Hay

Parsley Hay cycle hire centre is accessible by four bus services – 42/42A, 181, 446 and 449

42/42A – Buxton – Ashbourne
This is the main service to serve the centre throughout the year and on Sundays and Bank Holidays
