Peak District National Park Authority publications
Agreeing and enforcing policies for the National Park is one of our main and most important responsibilities.
Although the Authority has been given the task of looking after the National Park it does so to an agenda set out by central government. It works in partnership with other organisations and individuals. It is a complicated job and to help everyone understand how and why decisions are made, we produce - working with our partners - three key documents:
The Management Plan
The Structure Plan / East Midlands Regional Plan
The Local Plan
The National Park Management Plan is the overarching strategic document and central to the future of the National Park.
It co-ordinates and integrates with other plans, strategies and actions in the National Park, and indicates how the National Park purposes will be delivered through sustainable development.
The current management plan relates to 2006-2011. It will be reviewed and updated as necessary in 2010 for next five year period, and scheduled for adoption in September 2011.

State of the Park reports
The Peak District State of the Park Report provides information and identifies issues within the Park to inform the reviews of the National Park Management Plan, Development Plan and the Authority's spending plans.
State of the Park report - June 2004
The Structure Plan is no longer statutory policy, being replaced on 12 March 2009 by the East Midlands Regional Plan (also know as RSS8), however is still material to planning decisions within the National Park. The Structure Plan sets out a land-use strategy for 10 to 15 years ahead.
The Local Plan supplements the strategy and policies adopted in the Structure Plan with detailed operational policies.shown on an Ordnance Survey based map where certain development policies and proposals apply.
The Local Development Framework is a folder of local development documents that outlines how planning will be managed in the Peak District National Park.
