Peak District National Park Authority planning information
The following information must be adhered to when submitting information to us in connection with a planning application.
If you submit oversized documents or files of a type not listed here or agreed to prior to submission then your application may not be validated and registered.
List of Acceptable Document Types:.pdf / .doc / .jpg / .tiff / .xls
We may be able to accept other types of files in line with PARSOL (Planning and Regulatory Services Online) guidance however please check with the National Park Authority before submitting.
Where possible the Authority prefers PDF documents for their superior quality and size reduction capabilities, and also the universal nature of this type of document. However there are certain problems associated with the conversion of .dwg drawings from CAD packages in that the PDF file it produces is not either easily readable or printable and of considerable size. There are ways to minimise this, and should it be required, help is available from the Authority.
File should be no more than 5MB in size. This is the maximum size accepted by both our email system and the planning portal.
There are various ways in which documents can be reduced, either via the program used to produce the document or via other methods. A guide on how to reduce the size of documents and image files will be available here in late-2009.
There are also ways in which large A0 Drawings can be submitted successfully by reducing the size to another recognised size, i.e. A4 or A3. The size must be clearly marked on the drawing itself e.g. as "1:100 @ A0". Doing this allows the Authority to accurately reproduce the file at its correct size and scale.
Drawings must also show a scale bar showing the length of 1 and 10 meters and/or key dimensions.
When you create and save the files, please adhere to the following naming convention where possible.
e.g. "ProposedElevations_A3_1-100" or "BlockPlan_A4_1-2500"
This allows the files to be easily recognisable by a glance at their name by either the planning service staff or by members of the public, allowing your application to be processed more quickly.
We strongly encourage the use of the Planning Portal and where possible applicants and agents should submit all documentation through the portal.
Comprehensive help is available from the planning portal in the use of the system, via web pages and telephone support.
Basic guidance can also be given by our planning staff . Please get in touch with us if you would like any information regarding electronic submissions.
In extreme cases only applicants or agents can submit files on CD/DVD or by email, however this must be agreed prior to submission. The above guidance must still be followed i.e. files must be no larger than 5MB in size..
The planning portal has more advice and alternative sources of support.
