Peak District National Park Authority planning information
A visit is occasionally arranged for items going to Planning Committee for determination when it is considered useful for Committee Members to have the opportunity to view the proposals on site. Site visits are purely ‘fact finding’, no discussion or representation takes place – that occurs the following day at the Planning Committee meeting.
All Committee Members may attend, usually viewing takes place from public roads or vantage points, if it is necessary to go on private land the agent/applicant/owner will be invited to attend. In exceptional circumstances statutory consultees, e.g. the Highway Authority, may be invited to observe and answer factual questions.
Led by the Chair of Planning Committee, the Planning Officer explains the details and issues to be viewed, which may include points raised by consultees, supporters or objectors. Others invited to attend may only answer questions from Members that apply to the Site Visit. Members may ask Officers to provide further information for consideration at the formal Planning Committee
